An ancestor of Christ; (2) The brother of Abraham and Haran, half-brother of Sari, (Sarah) (Genesis 20:12). Nahor married Milcah, his niece, the daughter of Haran, who bears him eight sons. He has a concubine named Reumah, who gives him another four (Genesis 22:20-24).
Naphtuhim Openings, Engravers; Son of Mizraim, Grandson of Ham
Negev

Dry, Parched, Undulating, Rolling Hill; It is a a mystery which region was the Negev in Biblical time. It was probably located somewhere between Canaan and Egypt. (Genesis 13:1-3); It lay to the South of Judah. The word is used to denote the South (Genesis 13:14). It is generally thought to begin at the South at site of Debir, stretching South in a series of rolling hills, which run East to West. Here the wilderness begins. To the East it is bounded by the Dead Sea and the southern Ghor. To the West it has no defined boundary before the Mediterranean. It has few springs and small rainfall. It is a pastoral land, where grazing is plentiful in the early months and where camels and goats can sustain life, even through the long summer drought, a land for nomads.

It was the scene of Abram's wanderings (Genesis 12:9, 13:1,3; 20:1) Isaac and Jacob lived here (Genesis 24:62, 37:1). The Amalekites dwelt there (Numbers 13:29), in the Avvim. The Tribe of Simeon (Joshua 19:1-9) and Judah (Joshua 15:21-32). David received Ziklag in the Negeb from Achish (1 Samuel 27:5). It is to have renewed prosperity according to Jeremiah 17:26; 32:44; 33:13.

The phrase “in the land” at Genesis 12: 10 does not refer to the Negev Desert. The concept of a drought/famine applies to Canaan proper, north of the Negev Desert, which relied on yearly rainfall to grow crops, but not to the Negev Desert itself, which frequently has little rainfall and where few crops are grown. (See Negev)
