The BOOK OF HABAKKUK consists of three chapters, which all constitute on oracle. In Habakkuk 1:1-17, he foretells the woes which the rapacious and terrible Chaldeans would soon inflict upon his guilty nation. In Habakkuk 2:1-20, he predicts the future humiliation of the conquerors. Habakkuk 3:1-19 is a sublime and beautiful ode, in which the prophet implores the succor of Jehovah in view of his mighty works of ancient days, and expresses the most assured trust in him. (ATS Bible Dictionary)

King Tou sends Hadoram and all kinds of wonderful gifts to King David to salute his victory over Hadadezer, king of Zobah (1 Chronicles 18:10). In 2 Samuel 8:10 this prince is called Joram. Ham is sometimes rendered passion since the Hebrew "hmm" and "yim" can denote sexual heat.

(Genesis 24:10; 27:43) Birthplace of Rebekah; Conquered by the Assyrian kings (II Kings 19:12); Had a commercial relationship with Tyre (Ezekiel 27: 23); May be identical with the Carrhae, in Mesopotamia, famous for the defeat of Crassus by the Parthians and known to the Arabs as Harran, the abode of the Sabeans. Some believe the city was built by Haran, the brother of Abraham, others think it was the first city built after the Flood. Haran (Carrhae) is in the territory of Muḍar, a day's journey southeast of Edessa. May be the same as the town of Harran in Southeastern Turkey. Hebron Place Of Joining, Alliance; Derived from the Hebrew word for "friend" Haver. A city in Canaan, originally named Kiriath-arba (Genesis 23:2). It rises 3,050 feet above sea level, Abraham resided near and bought a cave there to bury Sarah (Genesis 23). Joshua conquered it (Joshua 10) and expeled the Anakim (Joshua 14:12). It is given to Caleb (Joshua 14:14). It is assigned to the tribe of Judah and assigned to the Kohathite Livites (Joshua 21:11). God gives Hebron to King David (2 Samuel 2:1). It became David's capital for seven years. Absalom rebelled against David at Hebron. It lays 23 miles South of Jerusalem. Hebron today is home to 120,000 Arabs and only 500 Jews. (2) A son of Kohath, son of Levi (Exodus 6:18). He was the patriarch of Hebronite temple workers (1 Chronicles 26:23), put in charge with the king's busness west of the Jordan (1 Chronicles 26:30). (3) A man from Judah (1 Chronicles 2:43).
Hell Type of oblivion for the incorrigible; From Strong's 1067 (Greek) Gehenna, a valley west and South of Jerusalem, also a symbolic name for the final place of punishment (second death) of the ungodly; so called from the cries of the little children who were thrown into the fiery arms of Moloch, an idol having the form of a bull. The Jews so abhorred the place after these horrible sacrifices had been abolished by king Josiah (2 Kings 23:10, that they cast into it refuse, the dead bodies of animals and of unburied criminals who had been executed. Fires were always kept burning to consume the dead bodies.

Hittite Terrors, Troubles; From Heth, Descendant of Canaan and Ham; (Genesis 10:5); The tribe who sold Abraham his cave in Machpelah (Genesis 23:8); They were settled in a town called Kirjath-arba (Hebron). Kirjath-arba was founded by one Arba of the Anakim and had inhabitants of that giant race. The Hittites and Amoritessettled together in the Orontes valley in the south of Palestine. The Hittites were mixed with the Rephaite Anakim. Ezekiel speaks of Jerusalem as daughter of an Amnorite father and a Hittite mother (Ezekiel 16:3,45). They lived east of the isthmus of Suez. They were nomadic and pastoral tribes. The Hittites were the warlike part of a confederation of tribes. They inhabited the region between the Euphrates and Damascus in the Orontes valley. They were rivals of the Egyptian and Assyrian empires. In the book of Joshua they appear as the dominant race to the north of Galilee.
